Aliens from Planet Beige
People are weird.
I saw a strange sight this week. And that's saying something, because I seem to be a freak magnet.
It must have been around 8.30am-ish. I knew this because the traffic outside was bumper to bumper, impatient horns were honking and the crush of people on the sidewalk was at least three across. (Who needs a watch?) I was daydreaming as usual and looking through the windows to the other side of the street.
And then I saw them. Three young blonde girls all dressed in brown standing in front of a tree. Their outfits were all the same shade of drab...but different. One girl was in a pinafore, one was in long slacks and the third had on what was either a mini skirt or shorts. I couldn't quite make the distinction. And they were just standing there looking out onto the road, encircling the trunk of the tree. After a minute or so two of them ran and hid in a nearby alley while the tallest one stayed by the tree looking out at the cars.
Exquise me??? Baking powder??? What the?
Ok here's my three guesses as to what was going on:
1 - They were tree nymphs. And I had somehow developed the ability to see ancient creatures the rest of us were oblivious to.
2 - They were aliens from Planet Beige. And once again, I and I alone had the power to see them.
3 -There was a Rave on with a wacky brown theme. That at least explains why two of them would hide in shame down an alley. Seriously, who wants to be seen in daylight in a totally poo-brown outfit?
Hmm...Well, numer three can't be right becasue it was Tuesday morning. What rave happens on a Monday night? And number one...well, although I don't doubt my super-human abilities...everyone knows tree nymphs don't live in the city. I'm going with number two. If I can see Planet Beige inhabitants, then perhaps I can also see Planet Idontownamirror creatures.....
And THAT would explain a lot.
