Once Again, Into the Fore dear Dog

The Goof and I

The above picture is a good example of what I had to put up with during Zeus's tenure with me. He was the goof in the family, not I. While I still miss him, greatly, I find myself becoming friends with the little squirt, aka Maxwell Jeremiah.

During the past 10 days Mom has been gone, again. So I've been confined with the squirt and he got in trouble and I had to suffer with him. Almost as soon as Mom left Max decided that he was going to use the dining room as his bathroom, which I might add I despised, but understood.

Mom had left us in the charge of a couple of rookie pup sitters, sure we knew them, but they weren't Mom and because of this Max, the Little Squirt, got confused, scared and basically nervous. I mean here's this strange house, with a new Mom, and after just two weeks, she up and leaves and we don't know how long she'll be gone. Me, I kept telling him, and myself, she'll be back soon, but I don't think Max believed me, hence the wrong decision on his part to poop and pee on the dining room rug, which Mom loves.

After a couple of days of this, my Auntie Smells Good, Mom calls her Carol and Sister, hence the Auntie part, and the pup sitters decided that we, that would be both of us, would be confined to the back part of the house, also known as the bedroom, entry and bathroom. Now this is patently unfair, I didn't do anything wrong, but I was confined too! I couldn't sleep in my chairs or couch. Wrong! The Big Guy, Mom's friend, did let us in the rest of the house when he was here, but the other one didn't, again, not fair.

The good news, Mom is back and Little Squirt is behaving himself. It's almost as if he knows that Mom won't put up with this silliness when she's home and she might decide that he can't stay.

I really hate to admit but while Mom was gone I grew quite fond of the silly little guy. He doesn't look right, he's short and squat, he has a silly little mustache and eyebrows, and his bark is a raspy thing, but he can be so endearing to a girl dog, he sniffs politely, not pushingly, he will play politely but with enough fierceness to make it fun, and he's a warm cuddle when Mom isn't home to cuddle with, so I guess we'll keep him, I'll get Mom to agree.
